Smiling Surgeons welcomes both medical and non-medical volunteers to power our mission in Malawi. Before each trip, volunteers help sort and pack supplies, inventory surgical kits, prepare patient materials, and spread the word in their communities. On the ground, clinicians (surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, dental assistants, sterilization techs) deliver safe, high-quality care alongside local teams, while non-clinical volunteers support logistics, registration, patient flow, and consented photo/video storytelling. Every role is briefed, mentored, and aligned to our values of safety, dignity, and cultural humility—so you can make a real impact from day one.
